🧠What I’m Trying to Accomplish
create a dopamine-reward button that plays a surprise hype song from a YouTube playlist whenever I finish my daily tasks. The goal was to reinforce consistency with a fun, instantly rewarding system that works with my ADHD brain, not against it.
đź’ˇ The Idea
I wanted a system that lets me: Quickly mark off a short, doable daily checklist Track when I complete tasks Trigger a fun, hype reward (a random anthem from a playlist I curated)
I call it my dopamine button — and it reminds me that progress deserves a party.
🔍 Data Extraction Adventures
One part I didn’t expect to be so tedious was getting all the individual video URLs out of my YouTube playlist. YouTube doesn’t make it easy to bulk extract links, and I definitely wasn’t about to sit there copying and pasting 40+ songs manually like a digital peasant. So I hit the web and found a tool that could pull all the video URLs from the playlist for me—major time saver.
Even after that, I ran into another classic tech speed bump: the tool exported the list in a column format, and I needed them comma-separated to work inside Make for the randomizer logic. I could’ve done it manually (again, yawn), but I asked ChatGPT to reformat the list for me—and boom, got a clean, properly separated string of URLs ready for pasting. Little things like this add up, and delegating boring parts to AI made the whole workflow way more bearable.
⏱️ What Got Built (and How Much Time It Would’ve Taken Without Help)
Let’s talk results. With ChatGPT’s help, I was able to piece together a whole working system in a few focused hours—but if I had done this all manually, we're easily looking at 10+ hours, and I probably would’ve rage-quit halfway through. Here's a rundown of what we built together:
